Starting in fall of this year, students at universities in Saarland will be able to take advantage of interest-free student loans. The state government of Saarland has said it will take over interest payments for student loans while the student is still at university. The state government hopes to encourage more students to take advantage of student loans to finance their education, and the lack of interest payments are meant to be an incentive. The new rules also apply for students who are already studying in Saarland. In Saarland, tuition costs for each of the first two semesters are 300 euros, and increase to 500 euros for every additional sememster.
